GROOMING

At Wag Club, we understand just how important it is for your dog to have a clean, healthy coat. We strive to create a stress free environment not only for the pups, but for the owners as well. Our salon is located just around the corner from our Daycare at 32 Joralemon Street - Store #1. Our grooming team is all about details and helping our human clients navigate their dogs hair. How you should care for it at home, how often they need a groom and what style hair your pup would like - whether breed standard, or a more creative cut. We offer an open line of communication just a like a regular human salon. Tell us what you like, and we can tell you the possibilities!

**Grooming is by appointment only. Salon hours vary based on appointments, but generally we are open 9am-3pm - Monday through Saturday.**

GROOMING PRE-REQUISITES:

New York City requires proof of the following vaccinations for grooming:

  • Distemper + Parvovirus (DA2+ CPV)

  • Bordetella (Kennel Cough)

  • Rabies Certificate (signed) **NYS requires us to have a Rabies Certificate on file signed by the vet that includes type of vaccine, duration of immunity, name of the manufacturer, lot number and expiration date.**

  • Dogs visiting daycare while being groomed must have all daycare pre-requisites. This includes the Canine Influenza (H3N2 and H3N8).

  • Vaccinations must be complete at least two days before coming into Wag Club.

TO BEGIN:

  1. Fill out Grooming Registration Form under our Registration Tab.

  2. Email your pup's Vaccination Certificate with everything listed under pre-requisites (above) to grooming@wagclubny.com. In the email, please include when you would like to schedule a consultation or make an appointment.

PLEASE NOTE:

  • When making an appointment: Email is usually quicker/preferred.

  • Aggressive, infirm, special needs and senior pets may be referred to veterinarians for grooming. This is for the safety, comfort and overall well-being of your pup.

  • If your dog is a new client and over 10 years old, we may ask for a note from your vet to confirm they are healthy enough to be groomed.

  • We generally book out about a week in advance. For bigger pups, we ask that you try to book at least three weeks in advance as we are a smaller salon, and space is limited.

  • We do not brush out severely matted dogsBrushing out severe matting can lead to discomfort for your pup. If your dog is very matted, we will recommend giving them a shorter cut. In some cases of severe matting, we will recommend going to a veterinarian. If this is the case when we meet your dog, we will certainly let you know. If you have any questions, please feel free to give us a call or send us an email.

  • Depending on what breed your dog is, we may ask that you be on a regular schedule. This especially applies to: any poodle mixes, owners that want to keep their dogs very fluffy throughout the year, terriers that get hand stripping (see below), or those that get breed standard haircuts.

  • Hand stripping is a labor-intensive process where the groomer pulls out the coat by hand. This typically only applies to terrier breeds that have a wiry coat. Our team specializes in this unique form of grooming, and it can be a great option for certain dogs and their owners. Pricing is dependent on the dog and how often you bring your pup in, but it is generally more expensive than a regular groom. If you are interested in hand stripping, we will likely ask that you come in at least every 4-8 weeks, depending on the dog. We are always happy to discuss the process with you and answer any questions that you may have.
